Know when the door is open. You need to know your pastor well enough to know when he is open to new ideas and when is closed. In other words, don’t try to knock the door down, wait until the door is open.
David knew that the door was open for three reasons.
1. Saul was offering a reward.
2. Saul sent for him.
3. Saul was asking questions.
All pastors have problems and are looking for people to help solve the problems. The best way to know if the door is open is to notice when your pastor is asking questions. Be prepared with a list of ideas for when he is looking for answers and new ideas.
