Pure Motives

Make sure your motives are pure. David’s brother Eliab wanted to start a fight with David. He accused him of pride, "I know the pride and how wicked your heart is. You came down only to watch the battle."

But David knew that his motives were pure. He knew his heart was clean. “Is there not a cause?” was David’s response.

You will get shot at if you try to lead up. Your peers may question your motives, but don’t let that stop you. Don't allow criticism to stop you. David ignored the comments and taunts that Eliab said to him. David knew the enemy was not his brother. The people that are shooting at you are not the enemy. If it seems like your purpose is to bring attention to your ministry, you will lose all credibility. You job is to help your pastor.
