Vision is a plan or a dream for the future. Vision is a picture of something you see yourself doing in the future. God has a plan for your life. You are not here by accident. God created you and He has a plan for your future.
“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
The Bible calls this plan “vision.” Vision is a picture of what you want to do in the future.
If you want to be a leader, you must know where you are going. Ask yourself these questions:
- What do you see yourself doing?
- Where do you see yourself going?
- What are your goals for the future?
- What are your dreams?
- What is the next step?
If you cannot answer these questions, you are not ready to lead yet. You might have leadership potential, but people will not follow you if you don’t know where you are going. How do you find the answers? Take time to talk to God about your future and listen to Him.
Is your vision a heavenly vision? The apostle Paul said, “So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven.” Acts 26:19 (NIV)
If your vision comes from heaven it will not be just about you. A selfish vision is not a heavenly vision. A heavenly vision is one that includes other people.
You need to ask yourself this question, “Why do I want to do what I want to do?
